Your article is very good, except that it is misleading in the section, where you mention that Zaroukian was distanced from ARF in 1956 but had written his “Tooght ar yerevan” in answer to Gevorg Apov’s “Menk chenk moratsel” in 1945, so at that time he was still a loyal member of the party, which by reading the article one thinks otherwise. But after 1956, his opinion and writings concerning the party had changed.
Aghtamar – Dzarougian did, in fact, leave the party in 1956 and his views did change regarding many things. He did claim that his view on (Soviet) Armenia never changed throughout his life, though.
Dzarougian was clearly offended when he read Abov’s poem. Although Abov had addressed his poem to the entire ARF, Dzarougian felt it was his responsibility to respond to and disclaim Abov. Almost overnight, Dzarougian became a dominant voice in Armenian life, and his poem quickly spread through the Armenian Diaspora, from the Middle East to Europe and the Americas.
When reading Թուղթ առ Երեւան, it is clear to the reader that he is a loyal ARF-er (he wrote it in 1945). I apologize if the article was unclear on that point. Thank you for bringing that up.
Hagop Atamian –
Vahe Apelian –

Read your article with great admiration. You mention the book as “Tought Ar Yerevan” published in 1947. But I bring to your attention that this book was first published in 1945 (Cairo,Egypt) titled as “Hey Djan Yerevan”. I do have a copy of this book and in it there is handwritten poem ,also all across the book there is many annotations, views and feeling written by our great armenian poet Avedik Isahagian (1875-1957).
