Բժիշկ Ասատուր Ալթունեան ծնած է Սեբաստիա, 21 Մարտ 1857-ին: Շրջանաւարտ եղած է Այնթապի բժշկական եռամեայ քոլէճէն 1881-ին: 1881-84-ին աշակերտած է տեղւոյն ամերիկացի բժիշկ Վէյչսին, ապա եղած է անոր օգնական բժիշկը։ 1884-ին մասնագիտական ուսման
